WWE Friday Night Smackdown 4/16/2021

Roman, Jey and Heyman came out to talk. Lots of loud you suck chants from the crowd that isn't there. We overheard production telling them to lower the sound.
Roman had Heyman talk about how he beat Edge and Daniel Bryan. Roman wondered who would want to challenge next after he pinned both guys and said no one is on his level. They went to leave then Cesaro came out.
Cesaro went face to face with Roman but Roman and crew left as Cesaro was getting his mic.
Pat McAfee and Michael Cole are now the Smackdown announcers. Corey Graves was moved to Raw, Samoa Joe was release from WWE entirely and Tom Phillips is now on 205 Live. What happens to Vic Joseph of 205 Live is unknown.
Cesaro went up to Adam Pearce and Sonya Deville in the back. He said he wants a match with Roman tonight, title or not. Sonya talked for Pearce and said she would talk to Roman. They are clearly pushing towards Sonya being the decision maker here.
Rey Mysterio with Dominic Mysterio vs Otis with Chad Gable
Otis' former partner Tucker Knight was released yesterday which seemed inevitable the second they split them up. Otis running body blocks Rey to start. Otis gorilla press drops Rey then throws him out, but Rey rolls to his feet.
Rey gets hung in the tree of woe position and is kicked at. Otis misses a splash in that position then Rey hits la silla on him from the top. Rey springboard crossbodies him but is caught and slammed. Otis goes for a splash from the 2nd rope but belly flops and gets nothing. Otis takes a 619 and Rey climbs on the 2nd rope. He hits a sloppy crucifix bomb on Otis and wins it. Short but fun big man vs little man match here.
Paul Heyman is in the back talking to the interviewer Kayla Braxton. Paul said Roman will accept Cesaro's challenge. Paul said there was no rain delay at Mania, just tears from angels over the beating Roman was going to give Edge and Daniel Bryan. Paul says Cesaro has a billion dollar body and a 10 cent brain. He said Cesaro is a joke and said lets put an end to the joke tonight against....Jey Uso.

Sami Zayn comes out. He said he was once again screwed. He said Michael Cole, Kevin Owens got into the head of Logan Paul and he was so worried about him that he lost. He called out Kevin Owens as he said there was no way for him to steal a win now. Owens then came out.
Kevin Owens vs Sami Zayn
They start out on the floor and Sami has his head banged into the announcer's table. Owens sentons Sami. Sami avoids a cannonball then hits him from behind and pounds on him.
They trade punches and chops and Sami sunset bombs him from the top for 2. We go to break and return and they are back up top. Kevin superkicks Sami for 2. Kevin swantons him from the top for 2. Sami goes up the ramp for a breather and is thrown into the rails.
Kevin fisherman's busters him over the knee. Sami then heads up the ramp again and gets counted out. Owens runs up the ramp and goes after Sami then stunners him in the ring. It was okay up until the finish.
Apollo Crews is with Commander Azeez(the former Dabba Kato) and is happy about winning the US Title. He said he would give Big E a rematch but he isn't here and they dub Azeez's thumb to the neck the "Nigerian nail". He says Azeez is a former member of the Nigerian Elite Guard. He said anyone who comes for his title will be annihiliated by Azeez.

Bianca Belair's Victory Party
We have a victory party for Bianca Belair with The Street Profits. Ford says this is a moment he will tell his grandkids about and I highly doubt that one. They really put Bianca over hard and she comes out. She said she believed she could be champ and said she is the best. She said they made history and Bianca said she left her a welt from her hair to remember her by. She said she is just getting started and said The Street Profits need to go win the tag titles. This was cringe and forced.
Kayla Braxton is talking to Sasha in the back. Sasha still has a bruise from the hair shot. She's mad and leaves the interview before saying anything.

Bayley is interviewed by Sasha Banks in the bank. Bayley said Sasha didn't really think she could win before Mania and was crying before the match. Bayley said she is the champ you would want and said she is going to challenge Bianca and take her title.
WWE Smackdown Tag Team Titles - Dolph Ziggler and Robert Roode vs The Street Profits
The SP's just blew their chance at the titles and are rewarded with a second shot for unknown reasons while the other teams who lost are not. DZ his a dropkick on Dawkins to start. Dawkins drops down and Dolph runs into a Ford dropkick.
The SP's 2v1 Dolph, and Dolph runs into Roode. DZ takes a double flapjack on top of Roode and is thrown out. Dawkins hits a bulldog and a shoulder on Roode, then the SP's go outside to yell at the camera's.
We go to break and return. Dawkins flying back elbows Roode then takes a spinebuster after a DZ distraction on the apron. DZ takes a nice bump off a catapult into the buckles and Ford and Roode both get in. Ford cleans house on the heels. He hits each with dropkicks and hits DZ with a hard lariat. Ford does a headspring into a nice standing moonsault, then he flip dives on both opponents. Dawkins spinebusters Roode and tags to Ford who hits a big frogsplash, but DZ breaks it up at 2.
DZ lariats Dawkins over the top and gets sent down with him. DZ blind tags himself in when Ford isn't looking then hits a great zig zag out of nowhere on Ford for the win. Really good match here with the SP's seemingly having it before Dolph outsmarted them for the win. These guys have been fighting for months and the matches have been good and this was no exception. The flow was very good here and Ford's timing was very good too.
Bayley is interviewed by Sasha Banks in the bank. Bayley said Sasha didn't really think she could win before Mania and was crying before the match. Bayley said she is the champ you would want and said she is going to challenge Bianca and take her title.

We see yet another Cesaro UFO clip before Cesaro is interviewed. Cesaro says Paul Heyman is right and he looks goofy and may not be the smartest. He said he does belong in the ring with Roman though and will prove it by beating Jey.
Heyman is talking to Roman in the back while Jey paces. Roman doesn't look pleased.
Natalya with Tamina vs Shayna Baszler with Nia Jax
Nia helps Shayna escape a sharpshooter by pulling her out. Tamina then pulls Natalya out to save her from a Shayna arm stomp. Natalya goes back in and gets a knee to the face. Natalya hits a spinning clothesline and Nia gets on the apron. Shayna has to stop herself from running into Nia then Shayna is rolled up. Nia goes to hit Natalya and gets a big boot from Tamina. This was short and existed to push a feud between these two teams.
We see the UFO AGAIN. Jey then cuts a promo on Cesaro from Roman's room. He said he is a one move man and said we will see why they call Jey "Main Event Jey Uso"
Cesaro vs Jey Uso
They point out that both have on the Andre the Giant Battle Royal. Cesaro gets a cool new matrix entrance and he is made into a giant light silouhette for it.
Cesaro slams him to start and catches him on a leapfrog for a backbreaker. Uso slams Cesaro's hand on the post and gets his leg hung up on the top rope. He is then kicked down. Cesaro comes off the apron and runs into a superkick.
We go to break and return with Cesaro taking a samoan drop. Cesaro deadlift delay vertical suplexes Jey then crossbodies him off the top. Jey then superkicks him for 2.
Jey climbs the buckles and takes a big dropkick. Cesaro then top rope gutwrench suplexes him for 2. Cesaro hits a corkscrew springboard uppercut. Jey lifts him up for a backdrop then neckbreakers him down for 2. Jey slaps around Cesaro but Cesaro slaps back and flurries him with shots. Cesaro then spinning clotheslines him for 2.
Cesaro hits the giant swing but Seth Rollins comes out and nails Cesaro for the Cesaro DQ win. Seth says Cesaro got lucky one time and this isn't over until he says so. This was a good match with them really putting over Cesaro until the finish.
Overall thoughts: This was like a bizarro episode of WWE where Cesaro is the top face after doing nothing for the last decade. It was a good show though with 3 good matches.
